“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has crossed the $1 billion at the only six days after release. The Sony and Marvel film became the second-fastest movie ever to reach that figure. Only “Avengers: Endgame,” which passed $1 billion in five days in 2019, got there sooner.
The film had already earned about $927 million during its global . That total included roughly $355 million from the United States and Canada and $572 million from international markets. China contributed about $121 million to the overseas result.
The opening in North America was the second biggest ever reported in initial studio estimates, finishing just behind “Endgame.” “Brand New Day” also posted a record opening day of $168 million from 4,487 cinemas in the US and Canada. Analysts estimated that 24.1 million people attended during the weekend.
Strong weekday carried the movie across the billion-dollar line. Reported totals placed North American revenue above $400 million after four days, while the international figure reached about $645.8 million. These are gross cinema receipts, not the amount Sony keeps after theatres, marketing and production costs are considered.
The speed of the achievement reflects several advantages. Tom Holland returned for his fourth standalone Spider-Man film, following the enormous success of “No Way Home.” The new movie also arrived as a major event in the Marvel calendar and opened widely across global markets at almost the same time.
The result gives Hollywood fresh after several uneven years for superhero releases. It may also help the North American summer season pass $4 billion for the first time since 2023. One successful title cannot solve every industry problem, but cinemas benefit when a large release attracts viewers who may also notice other films.
Comparisons between box-office records require some care. Modern films benefit from higher ticket prices, premium formats and broad global distribution. Figures are normally reported without adjusting for , so a new dollar record does not automatically mean more tickets were sold. An older film may still have attracted more viewers.
Even so, six days is an extraordinary pace. “Brand New Day” is now the third solo Spider-Man film to join the billion-dollar club, after “Far From Home” and “No Way Home.” The next question is whether it can maintain its after the first rush of fans. A long run could challenge the franchise’s highest lifetime totals.
