There was a small on the of Green Street. It was not famous, and it was not expensive, but many people loved it. The windows were clean, the chairs were old but comfortable, and the room always smelled like warm bread.

“I brought you apples from my garden,” he said. “You work hard, and this café makes the street feel friendly.”
Emma felt warm in her heart. “Thank you,” she said. “Maybe tomorrow I will bake apple cake.”
Mr. Brown smiled. “Then I will come early.”
Emma washed the last cups and put the chairs in their places. She also wrote apples on a small note, so she would remember the cake in the morning. She was tired, but it was a good tired.
